The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) is the state agency responsible for licensing and regulating over 40 industries and occupations in Texas. If you hold a cosmetology, barber, electrician, or HVAC/ACR contractor license, TDLR is the agency that issued your license and oversees your renewal.
TDLR handles license applications, renewals, continuing education requirements, inspections, and enforcement. All renewals are handled through TDLR Online Services at tdlr.texas.gov — you can complete the entire process, CE courses included, without visiting an office.
What it means for your renewal
TDLR will not renew your license until your continuing education is complete. CE providers report completions directly to TDLR — OnlineTexasCE reports yours within 24 hours of finishing your course.
